Terrifying Giants!

Our final piece of writing in our BFG English unit was a character description of a diabolical giant, just like the giants in the BFG. We did some watercolour and fine lining work in the style of Quentin Blake as the final touch to our Big Write.

Our final cavemen drawings

We worked hard on developing our charcoal drawing skills for our final caveman drawing. We scrunched our page and dusted it with charcoal so it would look like a real cave wall. Then the class showed off their art skills and drew in the style of a caveman. We loved this art unit!

Biceps and Triceps

We have learnt about how our Biceps and Triceps work together to allow us to move our arms. We made some models to help us to visualise how the muscles work. I was extremely impressed with how well the class could explain their new learning.

Can people with longer femurs jump further?

In Science we investigated this question by measuring everyone’s femur and then going outside to measure how far we could jump. There were some impressive jumping skills. We found out that there was no correlation in our class and we thought about what else could cause a person to be able to jump further. We came up with ideas like; a persons height, how active they are, the total length of their leg.

Cave Drawings

In Art we have been drawing with charcoal. This week we have linked our artwork to our learning in History- the Stone Age. We did our own cave drawings by making the room dark and sticking our paper under our desks to challenge ourselves to draw while lying down. We loved feeling like cavemen!
